I had the privilege of presenting the session "l:Re:l Thinking Rehearsal: Creating a Holistic Music Curriculum in an Ensemble Setting" at the 2024 Illinois Music Educators Conference with my mentor Tony DiPasquale about some of the methods we have used to be more creative, responsive, and comprehensive music teachers. Teaching at a low-income and rural school the past four years has presented many challenges, but by re-thinking the way we use ensemble time to create a more holistic picture of music we have been able to perform at high levels and foster community in our music department at Illini Central.
